CNC Fabrication

    As technology continuously advances so must our application of that technology toward the optics industry.  In 2002 Cylinder Optics, Inc. purchased a HAAS VF-1 to increase our capabilities.  This means less out-sourcing for us and lower costs for the customer.  The VF-1 also gave us the ability to take a piece of glass, shape it, and cut the exact radius.  It then goes to grinding and polishing.  We can put it back into the machine, cut the excess away, drill some holes and now have a glass mold with a cylinder in the center of it.

    Cylinder Optics, Inc. has devoted thousands of dollars as well as hours of research and development into bringing CNC fabrication to the cylinder side of optics.  As many of you may already know, cylinders seem to be thought of last when companies build these CNC machines for optics. However just as we have taken the HAAS to a new level with cylindrical optics we are working to do the same with the good people at OptiPro.  Hopefully by August of 2004 we will incorporate an OptiPro ESX125 into our manufacturing capabilities.  This new machine will allow us too precisely rough in and fine grind all of our optics in ¼ of the time.  We will be able to go straight to polish from this machine with better than 3 min. wedge.  It is our job to offer our customers a quality product at an affordable price and with our continuing advancement of fabrication we are assured to do just that.
